Ways to tell someone 'I Like You'

Something I posted for our school moblog, http://campusmoblog.com.sg/blog/blogac.

There are many ways to tell someone about your feelings for them. For example, via letters, phonecalls or just telling them straight in the face. Just a little introduction below. Don't take it too seriously.

Writing Letters

Advantages :

  • The easiest way to tell someone your feelings would be this method if you are a very shy person. Plus, there is no limit to what you can draw and colour on the paper so basically you can write every single detail about yourself down. Now, with email, the person would know what you think even faster than posting those letters.

Disadvantages :

  • The bad thing about letters is that they serve as evidence. Imagine if the letter ends up in the wrong target's hands. Like say, that's someone's classmate. You can spend your whole life explaining the mistake but the person would only think that you are too shy to admit your affections. However, if the person is attractive enough, then dont bother to amend the mistake.

  • Another disadvantage would be letters can be circulated around, which you dont want it to happen. Picture this. In your anxiety to send the message out quickly, you might send the email out to every single person in your address book instead of that particular someone. When that happens, you better hope that someone likes you back or you'll be teased for the rest of your life.

Phonecalls

Advantages:

  • Another method for the shy people to use besides writing letters. Best for those who hate to write and have bad spelling. Considering that everyone should own a house phone, if not a handphone, chances of you succeeding in calling that person is 100%. Of course, first of all, you need that person's phone number. Next, it's better to recognise the person's voice so you at least know if you have reached the right party.

Disadvantages:

  • The bad thing is that the other party doesn't even have the slightest memory as to who you are. If the person does, then it's not too bad. However, if he doesn't and you have to start off the conversation with a 'Guess who?', you might be labelled as a stalker for as long as you know. The worse part is that when the person wants to know where you got his/her number from.

  • If the person you like is the very insecure type, he/she might think you're playing a joke on them. So phrase your sentences properly.

A kind reminder : Dont talk too much on your first call because you'll either bore that person or scare that person away for knowing too much about them. And, please do not start off the conversation with confirming their identity by describing how they look. It makes you seem 100% more stalkerish.

Telling them straight in the face

Advantages:

  • First of all, you wont get your target wrong.

  • Secondly, if the other party dislikes you, you can act like it was just a joke. So, confess on days like Aprils Fools Day. However, if the party likes you, congrats! Then when you get tired of that person, it's easier to break up by telling him/her it was all a joke. Okay, that's evil.

Disadvantages:

  • The process of summing up your courage to walk in front of him/her to do so. Even before that, the process of pulling that someone to somewhere quiet, or rather, somewhere where none of his/her friends are. So if it fails, there's no one to witness your failure :P

I know there's like a thousand or maybe million more ways to say 'I Like You' but...I'm too lazy to do so. Just make do with it.
