A Wedding and Funeral

Living in an HDB flat has always been fun, especially if the happenings around your area are interesting.

As I walked past the block opposite mine, I realised that today was the 3rd day of the funeral that was held there and they were going to move the body either to the crematorium or to the cemetry. Family members and relatives of the deceased were all present(not that I know them but the crowd sure looked huge) and there were in the midst of paying their last respects. Of course, there were loud noises made by cymbals and all those praying made by monks.

Not wanting to join in the kay-poh aunties who placed themselves opposite the funeral ceremony and sat there to watch, I continued walking to my block. And...ta-da! A Malay wedding was held there! The two blocks were only separated by a car-park, and not those kind of shopping mall car-park but one that requires less than a minute to walk across to the other block. Therefore, it was kind of weird to see a wedding held there when opposite there was a funeral going on. I mean, I sure would not want to have someone holding a funeral next to my wedding. Then again, I do not want to get married at the void deck of a HDB block.

When i reached home, I heard music travelling all the way from downstairs. I stay 11 floors above where the wedding was held so if I could hear the music, the people at the one-minute-away funeral could of course hear the music too. The music played was Celine Dion's 'My Heart Will Go On'. Ok, this is seriously scary. Can you imagine that upon hearing this music you start to hear some heartbeat sounds coming out of the coffin? Plus, the casket company's name was Chye Seng, which in Chinese means 'Living again'...
